Hello July

Happy July, y’all. I’m currently sitting in a coffee shop writing this because there’s an electrical fault at my place and, as it will surprise no one, Escom is being a nightmare about fixing it even though it’s getting close to a week since we’ve had no lights. Nevertheless, one must persist, am I right?
Despite July beginning with bad luck for me, I have hopes for a good month. I ended June by quitting a job internship I’d had for only two weeks (a story for another day) and I hope this pushes me to share with you more often. I’m currently working on my mid-year recap since I missed May and June. I’m also uploading content from my old blogs. I can’t believe I thought getting rid of them and starting over from scratch was a good idea. There are so many gems I’ve been rediscovering. You can check out my archive if you want to (re)discover them too.
One of the things I want to get into is sharing a weekly link dump of things I found interesting that I think you might like or are worth checking out. I used to share posts like that all the time back in the day and I thought I’d start that up again.
Today I just want to share three pieces by some brill Malawian writers that I deeply enjoyed and think you will too.
January 2024: Snowfall and Splattered Walls by Tawo Msowoya in Brittle Paper
Your Mother is Just a Girl by Wendy Hara in See: A Collection of Insights by Wona Collective
A Cold June by Chisomo Kalumula via his Medium
That’s it from me for today. How has July begun for you? What do you hope it brings? Let me know in the comments.
